Throughout the history of Freemasonry, men, seeking to become Master Masons, have entered a lodge, knelt before God and their fellow brothers, and taken upon themselves a solemn obligation to help, aid, assist their fellow man, especially their Brother Master Masons. Also, in that obligation, each new Mason vows to assist his Brother's widow and children to the best of his ability within his means. These vows are the heart of Freemasonry, the core of an organization dedicated to brotherly love and fellowship. In honor of that obligation and in the due diligence required by an oath of such high regard, King Lodge No. 461 has founded the Samuel Murray Benevolent Fund to collect monies dedicated to assisting our Brothers and their families in need. This fund is dedicated to the memory of Bro. Sam Murray, whom the world lost this year after a lengthy battle with cancer. Bro. Sam exemplified the virtues of Freemasonry, working tirelessly through various Masonic bodies, even during his illness, to assist all those who needed help. He gave of himself continuously, be it through his work with the Jericho Shrine Temple or the Blue Lodge. In honor of his many years of service to Freemasonry and his community, and in recognition of the fellowship so many shared with him, King Lodge is proud to memorialize his life in Masonry with the dedication of this Benevolent Fund. The photos seen on this page are of a new showcase installed in the main lobby of King Lodge. This showcase was donated by Bro. Charles A. Arnold to be used to display items for sale by the lodge, with all proceeds dedicated to the Samuel Murray Benevolent Fund. This showcase is but the first of several fundraising ideas brought forth by the benevolent fund committee, chaired by Jason Arnold (see photo). Through the hard work and devotion of the lodge, we hope to set aside a significant amount of money, providing us the ability to better help in a time of need. Please stop by and check out the aprons and t-shirts for sale. We hope to add more items in the near future to meet the needs and interests of the Lodge Brothers. Thank you for your support. |
